Home to the elusive Indian wolf, desert cat, the endangered great Indian bustard and several other species of birds and animals, Banni grasslands was a delicate eco system. The impact of the invasive species Prosopis juliflora has now turned Banni into a desert.

The question that remains is whether restoration of these grasslands is possible or whether it has now become a novel eco system with a brand new set of rules.
